Book Ends, The Improper Bostonian

Boston  |  September 18, 2002

Whereas local publishing companies routinely pick up and move to New York, one new independent publisher has just opened downtown. Cambridge-based Zoland Books editor Stephen Hull started Justin, Charles & Co. (it’s named for Hull’s two sons). He aims to publish books with an edge — mystery thrillers, fiction and nonfiction alike. Local mystery guru Kate Mattes (of Kate’s Mystery Books) is lending her expertise to the endeavor — she’ll even have her own imprint with the house. Justin, Charles & Co.’s first 12 titles will hit stores in 2003.
